FOOTVOLLEY

Score

Games are played to either 12 or 15 points with sets of one or three games played.   Footvolley uses the advantage rules of Beach Volleyball.

The Field

The same court used for Beach Volleyball court is used for Footvolley.

Footvolley Service

The service of the ball initiates the game.  The serve consists of kicking the ballover the net with one of the feet in the direction of the opponents.  There are several ways in execute the service – the server may choose which part of the foot to use (top of the foot, inside the foot, outside the foot).   The ball may be served with “spin” or direct, direct serves tend to be more difficult to receive. The type of service chosen is an individual decision that is usually dependent on weather condition and opponents.

Footvolley Reception
The reception consists of receiving the ball and being able to pass well to ones partner, so he can set- up the second touch precisely for the partner to attack on the third and final touch.  The reception can be made using different parts of the body: feet, thighs, chest and shoulders, the most used and most effective is the use of the chest. The ball should be received in such a way that it permits the receiver to pass the ball to his partner as close to the net as possible.  This allows the partner to set-up the ball with precision for the final pass over the net (known as the attack).

Footvolley Attack

The attack consists of passing the ball over the net in such a way as to limit the opponent’s chance of returning the ball.  The attack can be short on the net, far from the net, on the back of the court or diagonal, where the ball crosses the court laterally.  The attack can be realized by feet, thigh, chest, shoulders and head.  The head is the part of the body used most often to attack.  The type of attack depends on the position of the opponents on the others side of the net.  It is very important that the partner sets-up a high ball close to the net (as in volleyball) in order to execute a effective attack.

Footvolley Defense

The defense consists of not allowing the ball of the attacker to touch the ground on your side of the net. There are many factors to an efficient defense.  Position is extremely important and the correct position in the court should be determined in order to avoid confusion as to which player should receive the first ball.  Anticipation of the play and having positional accuracy are crucial to a strong defense.  Players must always be ready to cover the attack by covering for one’s partner when the partner is out of position.  Again, feet, thighs, chest, shoulders and head may be used to save against an attack.
